Perdue recalled nearly 167,171 pounds of frozen ready-to-eat chicken nuggets and tenders due to potential metal contamination. The affected products include 22-ounce simply smart organics breaded chicken breast nuggets, 29-ounce chicken breast tenders, and 22-ounce butcherbox organic chicken breast nuggets with a “Best If Used By” date of March 23, 2025. The metal was discovered after receiving consumer complaints about metal wire embedded in the food. Perdue Foods LLC identified the foreign material as a thin strand of metal wire, which was accidentally introduced during the manufacturing process. As a precaution, the company decided to recall all affected products to ensure consumer safety. Consumers are advised not to consume the recalled products and to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase. There have been no reports of illness or injury related to the contaminated products. The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is monitoring the situation and working with Perdue to address the issue.
