At least 94 people were killed and 50 others were injured in northern Nigeria when a fuel tanker crashed and exploded in Majia town in the Taura local government area. The incident occurred as local residents gathered to collect fuel from the tanker after the crash. The injured were taken to local hospitals for treatment. A mass burial for the victims is planned for later in the day. Nigeria’s poorly maintained roads are often at fault, causing accidents that claim many lives each year. Just last month, a similar incident occurred in north-central Nigeria, where 48 people were killed in a fuel tanker explosion after colliding with another truck carrying travelers and cattle. This latest tragedy highlights the dangers faced by Nigerian residents due to poor road conditions and lack of proper safety measures.
