Oklahoma County Begins Vegetative Debris Pick-Up Following Tornado Damage
OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OKLA (KOKH) — Starting November 13, Oklahoma County crews are initiating a vegetative debris pick-up effort in Choctaw, Harrah, and surrounding unincorporated areas of east Oklahoma County that were affected by the recent F-3 tornado. On November 3, the tornado wreaked havoc, damaging 231 homes and outright destroying approximately 63 in the area.
County Commissioner Brian Maughan urged residents to clear vegetative debris to the roadside while ensuring that it does not obstruct roadways, driveways, ditches, culverts, and other drainage systems. This is crucial for maintaining safety and access in the affected neighborhoods.
Residents also have the option to drop off their vegetative debris at designated dumping sites located at 3200 Plant Drive in Choctaw and 21700 East Reno in Harrah. To utilize these drop-off locations, proof of residency in the affected areas will be required.
Local residents are encouraged to participate in this cleanup to help restore their communities as efficiently as possible. As recovery efforts continue, local officials are working diligently to address the fallout from this natural disaster and assist those impacted.
