A 19-year-old swimmer named Victor Enrique Castaneda Jr. was reported missing last week near the jetty area at South Pointe Drive in Miami Beach. After a three-hour search, Castaneda was not found. This week, a human head washed ashore in South Florida, near Key Biscayne. The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner confirmed that the head belonged to Castaneda. The cause and manner of his death have not been released. The investigation into Castaneda’s death is ongoing. It is unclear if Castaneda was killed in a slaying, or if a marine animal or a boating accident could have led to the decapitation. Authorities did not provide further details.
