Arizona State University’s men’s basketball team faced a tough loss at Oklahoma State on Sunday, falling 86-73. The team was already missing two wing players, Adam Miller and B.J. Freeman, when freshman Jayden Quaintance suffered an ankle injury early in the game. Despite efforts to rally back, ASU was unable to overcome a 19-point deficit in the second half.
Alston Mason was a standout player for the Sun Devils, scoring 16 points in the first half. Freshman Amier Ali also had a strong performance, achieving a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in a season-high 35 minutes of play. Fellow freshman Joson Sanon added 17 points and five rebounds to the effort.
Looking ahead, ASU will travel to face No. 13 Texas Tech on Wednesday in a broadcast on CBS Sports Network. This matchup marks the first time the Sun Devils have faced Oklahoma State since 1997. The two teams had previously played each year from 1993-1997, with this recent game in Stillwater being the first since 1995.
ASU’s record now stands at 12-11, with a 3-9 conference record. Despite the loss, the team showed resilience and determination in the face of adversity, and will be looking to bounce back in their upcoming game against Texas Tech.
