The Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame is gearing up to celebrate its 55th anniversary by honoring 20 distinguished journalists. Among this year’s honorees are Dean Blevins, Oscar Pea, and the late Bill Teegins. Dean Blevins, a well-known sports director at News 9, has been a staple in Oklahoma sports media for over 40 years. Oscar Pea, a photojournalist at News on 6, has spent nearly four decades covering major news events in Oklahoma. The late Bill Teegins, a sports director at News 9 before his untimely death in the 2001 OSU plane crash, will also be honored.
The induction ceremony for the 2025 class and a special posthumous class will take place on May 9 at UCO’s Nigh University Center. The event will include a reception and museum dedication leading up to the ceremony. The honorees for the 2025 class include a range of journalists from different fields, while the special posthumous class will pay tribute to those who have made significant contributions to Oklahoma journalism.
In addition to the honorees, a lifetime achievement honor will be awarded posthumously to longtime Oklahoma broadcaster Jack Ogle and his sons. The Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame continues to recognize and celebrate the contributions of journalists who have made a lasting impact on the field.
