The Food and Drug Administration issued a recall for thousands of pounds of ground coffee across 15 states in the U.S. after it was mislabeled as decaffeinated. The mislabeled coffee, Our Family Traverse City Cherry Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee, was sold in states including Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana. The recall was voluntarily issued by Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA, one of the largest coffee suppliers in the U.S. The FDA classified the recall as a “category II” label, meaning that exposure to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. Our Family, the company behind the mislabeled coffee, stated that none of their other products were affected by the recall and apologized for any inconvenience caused. The coffee’s distributor, SpartanNash, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The FDA is urging consumers who purchased the mislabeled coffee to return it for a refund and to consult with a healthcare professional if they have experienced any adverse health effects.
