The annual Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Expo took place at Alexandria Area High School, attracting hundreds of students and their families on March 27. The event featured over 30 different stations where attendees could engage in activities ranging from learning about bees, birds, and boats to playing musical instruments, pottery classes, flower arranging, and generating electricity by pedaling a bike. This free event provided an opportunity for students, families, and community members to participate in various activities related to arts, culinary arts, robotics, technology, science, music, and more.
The STEAM Expo was organized by Alexandria Public Schools with support from local entities such as the Alexandria Area High School “A” Club, Aagard, Alexandria Education Foundation, and several others. The event showcased a wide range of interactive activities, including blood draws using near-infrared vein visualization technology, planting wildflowers with the help of FFA students, and fingerprinting services provided by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for identification and safety records.
Overall, the STEAM Expo was a successful event that provided a fun and educational experience for attendees of all ages to explore various fields of study and interests.
