Three U.S. Army soldiers who went missing in Lithuania during a training exercise have been found, with one still missing. The soldiers disappeared after their vehicle became submerged in a peat bog. The soldiers were from the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division. Recovery operations are ongoing for the fourth soldier. The search effort involved hundreds of personnel from the U.S. and Lithuania, with specialized equipment needed to stabilize the soft ground. Lithuania, a NATO member, has hosted U.S. troops since 2014 as part of Operation “Atlantic Resolve” in response to Russia’s actions in Crimea. The identities of the soldiers have not been released pending family notification. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as they become available.
