World Wish Day is celebrated on April 29th to honor children facing serious illnesses who find strength and courage through having their wishes fulfilled. Make-A-Wish Oklahoma is working tirelessly to grant the wishes of over 300 children in the state, including fulfilling unique requests like becoming a police officer or meeting a celebrity.
The chapter, which was established in 1982, has granted over 4,000 wishes to date. Madison Ruh, a development officer with Make-A-Wish Oklahoma, emphasized that anyone can get involved in making these wishes come true. Whether it’s becoming a wish maker, grantor, volunteer, business partner, or donor, there are numerous ways to support these children in their time of need.
Wishes can range from extravagant trips to more meaningful gestures like giving back to a charity. One child even wished to build a sensory playroom for a local organization. Ruh highlighted the importance of these wishes in providing hope and strength to children undergoing treatment.
Make-A-Wish Oklahoma is encouraging Oklahomans to join their efforts in supporting children across the state, not just in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. They are looking for sponsors, business partners, volunteers, and donors to help make these wishes a reality for children facing challenging circumstances.
