Organizers of WorldPride urge caution for international trans community considering travel to U.S.

The organizers of WorldPride in Washington, D.C. are considering issuing a warning to transgender individuals from other countries about traveling to the event due to discriminatory policies by the Trump administration, such as the military ban on transgender servicemembers and requiring passports to match sex at birth. Capital Pride Alliance Executive Director Ryan Bos stated that they may advise trans individuals to come at their own risk. Advocates for Trans Equality Senior National Organizer Devon Ojeda expressed concerns about safety for the trans community, but also emphasized the importance of coming together and being visible. WorldPride in D.C. is expected to draw around 2 million attendees and will feature extensive safety measures including fencing, security checks, police presence, and web surveillance to monitor for online threats.
