Pierce, 77, was driving a pickup when the vehicle attempted to pass a tractor-trailer and collided with another vehicle. The pickup rolled off the road, resulting in the deaths of William Pierce and Blenda Lea Pierce, 73. Both victims were from Ringling.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Sweetwater, about 5 miles east of the town. Despite wearing seat belts, they were not in use at the time of the crash. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
