Missouri State University football player Todric McGee, 21, died from a possible accidental and self-inflicted gunshot wound. McGee was found at his home after a wellness check request, and he was transported to the hospital with serious injuries where he later passed away. McGee was entering his fifth season with the Bears and had been the starting safety in 2023 and 2024, earning all-conference honors in 2023. Head coach Ryan Beard expressed shock and mourning over McGee’s death and asked for privacy for McGee’s family and the football team. McGee, who hailed from Wichita, Kansas, graduated from Wichita Northwest High School. The university reported his death on Saturday, with the football program asking for prayers for McGee and his loved ones. The incident is currently under investigation by the Springfield Police Department.
