Severe weather struck Oklahoma on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of three people, including a 12-year-old boy. Wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour and pea-size hail affected parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, and Oklahoma, with tornado watches and warnings issued in Missouri and Arkansas. Two homes were destroyed and one person was killed in Spaulding, Oklahoma after a tornado touched down. In Moore, a woman and a 12-year-old boy were found dead after being swept away in floodwaters. Severe storms were expected to move through Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas on Sunday night, potentially producing hail, strong winds, and tornadoes. Flood warnings were also in effect across much of Oklahoma. The storm system’s slow pace increased the risk of flash flooding, with heavy rains expected to continue through Monday morning. The Weather Service warned of above-normal precipitation levels in various regions until the end of April. Sara Ruberg contributed to the reporting of this event, which is ongoing as severe storms may continue beyond the weekend.
