Transit police in Boston were investigating a shooting on a subway platform at Harvard University, prompting a shelter-in-place order for students and staff. The suspect, armed with a gun, fired four to five rounds at a targeted individual on the southbound platform and then fled the station. There was no evidence of injuries. Passengers were rerouted to shuttle buses as police from various departments searched for the suspect. Police were alerted to the incident at around 2:15 p.m. and the Harvard community was urged to shelter in place in the nearest building until further notice. The station is near the school’s main campus in Cambridge. The message was removed from Harvard’s website later that afternoon as police continued to search the area.
