Five individuals have been convicted for their involvement in a drug trafficking organization that focused on transporting liquid methamphetamine from Mexico to Oklahoma City via semi-trucks. The convicted individuals are identified as Juan Hernandez, Jessica Muniz, Denis Leal Gutierrez, Ceasar Azamar, and Adrian Narvaez. They were charged with various crimes including drug conspiracy and money laundering.
The indictment was returned by a federal Grand Jury in December 2024. The evidence presented at trial showed that the defendants collaborated with a Mexico-based trafficking organization to import liquid methamphetamine into the U.S. concealed in the gas tanks of semi-trucks. Law enforcement seized significant amounts of methamphetamine during the investigation at various locations in Oklahoma.
US Attorney Robert J. Troester praised the efforts of law enforcement in dismantling the drug operation and preventing the flow of drugs into communities. Gutierrez, Azamar, and Narvaez face potential life sentences and fines of up to $10,000,000, while Hernandez and Muniz face up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $500,000 per charge.
The successful prosecution of these individuals highlights the collaborative efforts of federal and state law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking. The operation disrupted a major drug network and prevented the distribution of millions of dollars worth of methamphetamine in Oklahoma.
