Two Grant County sheriff’s deputies helped convict Mose Smith of voluntary manslaughter in Oklahoma. The deputies located Smith and Kimberly Gilbert after a fight at a campground involving a knife. Smith’s truck was linked to a missing person from Sallisaw, Oklahoma, who was found dead. The deputies worked with investigators from Iowa and Oklahoma to collect evidence and seize the truck. Smith was found guilty by a federal jury for unlawfully killing someone during an altercation in Sallisaw. Gilbert pleaded guilty to aiding Smith. Both await sentencing in U.S. Marshals’ custody.
