Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Record Participation
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. (KOKH) – The 25th Anniversary Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon saw an impressive turnout, with over 26,000 participants racing in various categories, including the 5K, Quarter Marathon, Half Marathon, and full Marathon.
Highlighting the event, Al Maeder clinched the title for the Men’s Marathon with a time of 2:26:56, while Ashley Carreon emerged as the Women’s Marathon champion, finishing in 2:56:35.
In the Half Marathon, Chris Floyd led the men with a remarkable time of 1:11:33, while Kylee Reed took the women’s title, crossing the finish line at 1:24:59. The Quarter Marathon showcased Ryan Schoppe as the male winner with a swift 32:52, with Madalyn Harper securing the women’s win at 41:46.
The 5K race saw Austin McNair completing the course in 17:05, earning the men’s title, and Elliott Coleman took home the women’s prize in 20:21.
Unfortunately, the Kids Marathon and Senior Marathon were postponed due to severe storms on April 26, affecting the weekend’s festivities.
The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon not only celebrates athletic achievement but also honors the memory of those affected by the tragic events of April 19, 1995. The marathon has become a symbol of resilience for the community.
