Press Release: 25th Annual "Run to Remember" Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Sees Thrilling Victories
Oklahoma City, April 27, 2025 — The streets of downtown Oklahoma City came alive this morning as thousands gathered for the 25th annual "Run to Remember." Celebrating both a legacy of resilience and athletic excellence, the event showcased various races, culminating in the heart-pounding marathon finals.
In the full marathon, local runner Al Maeder secured his second victory with a remarkable time of 2:26:54, maintaining an impressive pace of 5:37 per mile. Maeder, a dominant force in past races, had previously won the half marathon in 2022 and 2024 and was the marathon champion in 2023.
Ashley Carreon from Moore was the standout female competitor, finishing first in the full marathon with a time of 2:56:33 (6:45 pace). Carreon has a history of success at the event, having clinched the half marathon title in 2019 and placing third in the marathon last year.
The half marathon winners included Chris Floyd in the men’s division, who crossed the finish line in 1:11:32 (5:28 pace), and Kylee Reed in the women’s division at 1:24:42 (6:28 pace). In the Quarter Marathon, Ryan Schoppe took the men’s title with a time of 32:52, while Madalyn Harper led the women’s field at 41:47.
Additionally, the Hand Crank Wheelchair Race saw Steven Scalzo take the top honors, while Austin McNair and Elliot Coleman claimed victory in the 5K men’s and women’s divisions, finishing at 17:05 and 21:32, respectively.
This year’s event not only celebrated personal achievements but also honored the enduring spirit of the Oklahoma City community, proving once again that the "Run to Remember" is a cornerstone of local culture and camaraderie.
