An estimated 114 undocumented immigrants were detained during a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) raid on an underground nightclub in Colorado. The operation, which followed months of investigation, took place at a club in Colorado Springs and involved numerous law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division.
DEA Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Pullen reported that patrons were arrested for active state warrants, while two individuals were specifically noted by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi. The raid uncovered drugs, including cocaine, and firearms, as well as more than a dozen active-duty service members posing as patrons or security. Surveillance indicated that the club was a hub for drug trafficking and prostitution.
Video footage released by the DEA captured law enforcement surrounding the venue, with announcements in both English and Spanish urging patrons to exit peacefully. The investigation remains ongoing, with additional operations anticipated in the city. President Donald Trump highlighted the raid, suggesting that it targeted violent criminals, though the DEA has yet to confirm any murder charges related to those detained.
Bondi asserted that members of violent gangs, including Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua and MS-13, were among those arrested. The crackdown on illegal immigration has raised concerns among immigrant advocates and civil liberties organizations. The Colorado Rapid Response Network advised families of detainees on their rights.
Jose Dominguez, a partygoer, described his experience of being briefly detained before being released without charges. The incident underscores ongoing tensions regarding immigration enforcement amidst claims of significant crime connections in the raid.
