Oklahoma Reclaims No. 1 Spot in NFCA/GoRout Division I Poll
Oklahoma has ascended to the top of the NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll this week, marking its return to the No. 1 ranking with a record of 42-5. The Sooners regained their status after a decisive sweep against then-No. 2 Texas during a critical SEC showdown, making it the fourth change in the top spot over the last eight weeks. Previously, Oklahoma held the No. 1 position for two weeks in March and now leads Texas A&M by 2.5 games as the regular season nears its conclusion.
Texas, with a record of 42-9, faced a challenging week, finishing at 1-3, which included a nail-biting 1-0 victory over No. 23 Oklahoma State. Consequently, Texas slid to No. 4, its lowest ranking of the season. Meanwhile, Texas A&M (41-8) climbed to No. 2, despite dropping two out of three games to now-No. 8 Arkansas, while securing a non-conference win over Louisiana.
Oregon surged to No. 3, its highest ranking since 2021, following a sweep of Indiana. The Ducks (44-5) maintain a slim one-game lead over No. 6 UCLA (44-7) in the conference standings. Tennessee rounded out the top five, recording a mixed week with a nine-inning loss to Clemson and a series win over then-No. 16 Ole Miss.
Other notable rankings include No. 11 Texas Tech, securing its first Big 12 title, and Clemson (No. 16), which climbed three spots after impressive wins. Grand Canyon makes a notable return to the rankings at No. 24, extending its win streak to 17 games and clinching the WAC regular-season title.
This poll, voted on by 31 NCAA Division I head coaches, reflects the dynamic landscape of collegiate softball as the season draws to a close.
