USC Football Part Ways with Strength Coach Bennie Wylie Amidst Program Changes

In a surprising move following the spring season, Lincoln Riley, head coach of the USC Trojans football team, announced that strength coach Bennie Wylie is no longer part of the program. Coach Riley expressed gratitude for Wylie’s contributions over the past three seasons, stating, "We are grateful for the many contributions Coach Wylie has made to our program… This is a difficult decision, but we are committed to positioning our football program to compete for national championships as we continue to move forward into the 2025 season and beyond."

Wylie joined USC in December 2021 after serving as the director of sports performance at Oklahoma from 2018 to 2021. His coaching journey also includes tenures at Texas, Tennessee, and Texas Tech, making him a well-respected figure in college football strength and conditioning.

Entering his fourth year at USC, Riley is aiming to improve upon the Trojans’ 7-6 record from 2024, bringing his overall coaching record at USC to 26-14 after three seasons, following a notable 55-10 mark during his five years at Oklahoma.

The decision to part ways with Wylie comes as Riley evaluates all aspects of the football program. Despite the difficult nature of the choice, it reflects Riley’s commitment to enhancing the team’s performance and achieving championship success. Wylie, known for his strong rapport with players and staff, leaves a legacy of positive influence within the program.

As USC prepares for the future, the focus remains on building a competitive team ready to tackle the challenges ahead in the upcoming season.
