Federal Official Claims Oklahoma Family was Misidentified in Immigration Raid

Federal Agents Raid Oklahoma Family’s Home, Targeting Wrong Address in Smuggling Investigation

OKLAHOMA CITY — A family in Oklahoma has recounted a harrowing experience after federal immigration agents mistakenly raided their home during a search for alleged human smugglers. The incident occurred early in the morning on April 24, shocking a mother and her three daughters, who had only recently moved into the Oklahoma City residence from Maryland.

As reported by KFOR-TV, the family had been in the home for just two weeks when around 20 armed agents burst through their door, disregarding their protests that the suspects named in the search warrant did not reside at their address. The mother, whose identity has not been disclosed, described the traumatic scene where they were forced outside into the rain in only their undergarments.

Despite the mother’s attempts to clarify their recent relocation and the inaccuracy of the details on the warrant, the agents remained dismissive. During the raid, they confiscated their phones, computers, and all of their life savings, according to the mother.

A statement from a U.S. Department of Homeland Security official confirmed that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was executing a court-authorized search warrant tied to a larger human smuggling investigation involving Guatemalan nationals. The official acknowledged that the search warrant included an address now occupied by U.S. citizens but stated that the intended targets were previous residents.

However, the official did not address the family’s claims about the confiscated money and personal belongings, which have not yet been returned. The distressing raid has left the family feeling traumatized and confused, highlighting potential oversights in the enforcement of immigration laws.
