Oklahoma State Dominates UCF in 12-0 Victory
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State University (OSU) showcased an impressive performance, blanking the University of Central Florida (UCF) 12-0 in the opening game of their weekend series on Friday night at O’Brate Stadium.
This victory elevated the Cowboys’ overall record to 20-21, while improving their Big 12 standing to 8-11. The UCF Knights fell to 24-21 and 6-16 in conference play.
Pitcher Harrison Bodendorf took center stage, delivering a stellar eight-inning outing, allowing just four hits and a single walk, while striking out seven batters. Bodendorf’s dominant performance improved his season record to 8-1.
The OSU offense surged early and often, scoring in the first five innings to seize control of the game. The scoring began in the first inning when Alex Conover was hit by a pitch and Brayden Smith doubled, setting up Nolan Schubart’s sacrifice fly that gave the Cowboys a 1-0 lead.
In the second inning, OSU capitalized on a UCF error, collecting two more runs, with Conover contributing another sacrifice fly to push the lead to 3-0. The Cowboys continued to expand their lead, highlighted by Colin Brueggemann and Brock Thompson, who each belted two home runs and drove in six RBIs. Brueggemann’s two-run homer in the third extended the advantage to 5-0.
After both players added solo shots in the fifth, the Cowboys wrapped up their scoring in the seventh with three runs driven in by bases-loaded walks, concluding the offensive onslaught at 12.
Stormy Rhodes closed out the game with a scoreless ninth, striking out two. The Cowboys aim to secure the series win when they face UCF again Saturday evening at 6 p.m.
