Oklahoma State Softball Secures 7-4 Victory Over Utah
STILLWATER — The No. 23 Oklahoma State softball team showcased a stellar performance on Friday, defeating Utah 7-4 at Cowgirl Stadium. This victory boosted the Cowgirls to a commendable 31-17 record overall, with an 11-9 standing in the Big 12 Conference. Meanwhile, Utah’s struggles continued, falling to 13-37 and 5-17 in the league.
Star pitcher Ruby Meylan led the charge for OSU, achieving her 20th win of the season — a feat accomplished by only 23 other Cowgirls in the program’s history. Meylan delivered an outstanding performance, pitching seven innings, allowing just four hits, and striking out 10 batters, marking her sixth double-digit strikeout game this season.
The game began with Utah’s Emily Capobianco hitting a two-run home run in the fourth inning, putting the Utes ahead momentarily. However, the Cowgirls quickly retaliated, scoring three runs in the bottom of the same inning. Key contributions came from Claire Timm, who hit a leadoff double, and Micaela Wark, who launched a two-run homer.
OSU extended its lead in the fifth inning with a career-high performance from Timm, adding three RBI doubles from Megan Bloodworth, Megan Delgadillo, and Tallen Edwards, along with a single from Rosie Davis.
Despite two runs from Utah in the sixth, the Cowgirls maintained their advantage. Offensive highlights included Timm’s 3-for-4 night, Wark’s home run, and Delgadillo’s two hits and runs.
The Cowgirls are set to return to action at 2 p.m. tomorrow for the series’ second game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
