Fatal Collision on I-35 Claims One Life in Goldsby
GOLDSBY, OKLA. (KOKH) — An early morning accident on Interstate 35 in Goldsby has resulted in the tragic death of an Oklahoma City man. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported the incident occurred around 3:48 a.m. at mile marker 104.
The driver involved in the collision, 41-year-old Nicholas Sanders from Carney, was operating a Mack Semitruck when he struck a car driven by 56-year-old Altus Barnett of Oklahoma City. Eyewitnesses reported a loud crash that reverberated through the area.
Despite immediate medical attention, Barnett was pronounced deceased at the scene. Sanders was taken to Norman Regional Hospital, where he has since been treated and released.
Barnett was accompanied by four passengers at the time of the accident. Among them, 35-year-old Melynda Byrd was transported to a local hospital for treatment, while three boys aged 13, 12, and 8 reportedly did not sustain injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision. OHP has emphasized the importance of road safety during such times.
