14th Annual Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival Draws Throngs with Giant Expo
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — This past Saturday, the 14th annual Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival captivated crowds at its signature event, the Giant Science and Technology Expo. The free, full-day experience provided attendees with a unique chance to engage in hands-on activities and witness the latest innovations in the STEM fields.
Over 60 local organizations showcased an array of exciting demonstrations, offering visitors the opportunity to interact with scientists, researchers, and STEM professionals from Southern Nevada. Attendees were mesmerized by live exhibits featuring robotics, virtual reality experiences, and even wildlife encounters, all designed to ignite curiosity and spark interest in science.
One of the highlights included a display of authentic prehistoric fossils unearthed from Nevada’s archaeological sites, providing a tangible connection to the region’s rich history. The event not only served as an educational platform but also fostered community engagement by bridging the gap between science and the public.
In line with a new tradition started in 2023, the festival recognized and rewarded the Clark County School District (CCSD) school with the highest attendance. This year, the honor and a $1,000 prize were awarded to Billy and Rosemary Vassiliadis Elementary School, celebrating their commitment to participation in the STEM initiative.
The festival continues to be a vital resource for promoting STEM education, inspiring the next generation of innovators, and reinforcing the importance of community involvement in science and technology. With enthusiastic support from local organizations and schools, the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival remains a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar.
