Longhorn Causes Lane Closure on Turner Turnpike

Stroud, OK – May 2, 2025
In a curious incident on the Turner Turnpike, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) responded to reports of a longhorn wandering dangerously close to traffic. Officers arrived at the scene near mile marker 150 at approximately 7:15 p.m. and closed the outside lane to ensure the safety of motorists and the animal.

The wandering longhorn was spotted moving in and out of the roadway, prompting concern for both driver safety and the well-being of the animal itself. Authorities have taken precautionary measures by temporarily halting traffic in the affected lane while they work to safely remove the longhorn from the area.

As of now, no reopening time for the lane has been announced. The OHP has urged drivers to exercise caution in the vicinity and to seek alternate routes if possible.

The situation is evolving, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The public is advised to remain patient during this unusual occurrence.
