Fatal Collision Near Shawnee Claims One Life and Injures Two
SHAWNEE, OKLA (KOKH) — A tragic car accident early on May 4 resulted in one fatality and two injuries in Shawnee. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported that the crash occurred around 12:48 a.m. at the intersection of 45th Street and OK-3W, just northwest of the city.
The incident involved a vehicle driven by an individual, whose identity has not been released pending notification of their next of kin. This driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Eighteen-year-old Saanecia Thomas was behind the wheel of a second vehicle involved in the crash. Thomas and a juvenile passenger, whose name is also being withheld, were subsequently transported to the Shawnee hospital to receive medical treatment for their injuries.
The circumstances leading to the collision are currently under investigation by the OHP as officials work to piece together the events that transpired.
