OU Recruiting Update: Rising Stars on the Horizon
NORMAN — As University of Oklahoma students near the end of the spring semester, football and basketball coaches are actively pursuing new talent for upcoming seasons.
Edge rusher Jake Kreul, a 5-star recruit from IMG Academy (Class of 2026), is set to visit the Sooners on June 20. Ranked as the No. 21 overall prospect by ESPN, Kreul had impressive stats last season, recording 11 tackles for loss and six sacks in nine games. This summer, he will also check out Ohio State, Florida, Texas, and Colorado.
The Sooners recently extended offers to several other prospects, including Dallas Dickerson, a 6-foot-1 wide receiver from Georgia, and Matthew Nelson, a 2026 defensive end from Arkansas. Dickerson, a 3-star player, joins OU’s list of high-profile offers, with interest from programs like Wisconsin and Kentucky. Nelson, though unrated, stands 6-5 and has garnered attention from multiple FBS schools.
Defensive back Hayden Stepp from Las Vegas has received an offer as well, joining ranks with elite prospects like David "DJ" Jacobs, another edge rusher ranked third overall in the 2027 class. Jacobs boasts offers from SEC powerhouses, including Georgia and Alabama.
Oklahoma’s interest extends to younger talent as well, with offers to Class of 2028 quarterback Graham Simpson and 2028 lineman Philip Loadholt III, son of former Sooner Phil Loadholt.
On the basketball front, OU has targeted DaKari Spear, a 6-3 guard from Texas, who is recognized as the No. 25 player in his class. The recruitment of promising athletes indicates OU’s commitment to building a competitive roster in both football and basketball.
With continued efforts on the recruiting trail, the Sooners aim to secure a strong future for their athletic programs.
