Oklahoma State Men’s Golf Team Claims 17th Regional Title
URBANA, Ill. – In a stunning finale, Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team clinched its nation-leading 17th regional title at the NCAA Urbana Regional, posting a final round score of 276. The second-ranked Cowboys finished with a total of 15-under 837, tying with tournament host Illinois on the par-71, 7,533-yard course.
This victory marks Oklahoma State’s 76th NCAA Championship appearance within the program’s 78-year history, with the team securing eight regional titles in just 11 attempts under head coach Alan Bratton. Including this regional win, the Cowboys have triumphed in four consecutive tournaments this spring and achieved six total wins this season.
Entering the day three shots behind Illinois, Oklahoma State rallied with an impressive 8-under final round, showcasing depth and skill throughout the lineup. Preston Stout led the charge, carding a closing 66, securing a tie for eighth place at 208. The sophomore displayed an exceptional second nine with a 5-under 30 following a balanced front nine.
Gaven Lane also had a strong performance, shooting a 67 to finish tied for 11th at 209, highlighted by three birdies and an eagle. Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson wrapped up the tournament with a 72 for a 211 total, tying for 16th, while Ethan Fang and Eric Lee finished 21st and 34th, respectively.
With this achievement, the Cowboys will advance to the NCAA Championship, scheduled to take place at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, from May 23-28. The team’s consistent performance has solidified their reputation as one of the top programs in collegiate golf.
