A Texas mother, Ashley Rosalinda Pardo, 33, has been charged with aiding her 13-year-old son in planning a terror attack at his middle school by buying him ammunition and tactical gear. Arrested in San Antonio, Pardo has been accused of dismissing her son’s violent drawings and fascination with mass shootings while purchasing him alarming items. The boy, a student at Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School, was first noticed by police in January after he displayed disturbing drawings and expressed an interest in mass shootings. Despite interventions by police and offers of support, he was later suspended for researching mass shootings on a school-issued computer. Following his suspension, he attempted suicide.
During his time at an alternative school, he returned to Rhodes Middle School with heightened security in place. On May 11, his grandmother discovered the boy “hitting a live bullet” with a hammer and learned that Pardo had been buying him tactical equipment from military surplus stores, allegedly in exchange for babysitting. The grandmother found loaded magazines, ammunition, an improvised explosive device, and a note referencing mass shootings and white supremacy. After contacting police, authorities located the boy before any harm occurred.
Pardo has been previously contacted by police and child protective services but reportedly showed minimal concern for her son’s behavior. This incident marks the first terrorism charge in Bexar County. Pardo posted a $75,000 bond and has a pre-indictment hearing scheduled, subject to conditions that include electronic monitoring, home confinement, and abstaining from firearms. The juvenile remains in custody, highlighting serious concerns over his behavior.
