Oklahoma First Responder Wellness Division Introduces Mobile Units

Press Release: Oklahoma First Responder Wellness Division Launches Innovative Mental Health Initiative

The Oklahoma First Responder Wellness Division is introducing a groundbreaking initiative designed to enhance the mental and physical well-being of first responders across the state. In an exclusive interview with The Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch, Danny Long, the division’s director, emphasized a transformative shift from reactive crisis management to proactive prevention. “We want and believe that we can get ahead of a lot of these problems that are causing a rise in addiction, divorce, and bad choices at work and at home,” said Long.

Central to this initiative are two 40-foot mobile wellness buses, which will be outfitted with state-of-the-art facilities, including sleep treatment beds, trauma chairs, and central nervous system reset rooms. These mobile units will not only provide therapeutic support but will also serve as secure debriefing areas during high-stress events, directly addressing the emotional toll experienced by first responders in the line of duty.

Long highlighted the need for this program, stating, “We’re just human beings too. After years of trauma, there’s going to be fallout. We want to help first responders manage that before it reaches a crisis point.” The mobile wellness buses will tour various locations throughout Oklahoma, ensuring that first responders receive ongoing support wherever they may be.

This initiative marks a significant step in prioritizing the mental health of those dedicated to serving the community, further underscoring the importance of well-being for first responders. Through preventive measures and accessible resources, the Oklahoma First Responder Wellness Division aims to foster a healthier, more resilient workforce poised to meet the challenges of their roles head-on.
