Project 31 Hosts Survivorship Expo to Empower Breast Cancer Survivors
On June 7, Project 31 will hold its annual Breast Cancer Survivorship Expo at the OU Children’s Hospital, aimed at supporting individuals navigating life after breast cancer remission. From 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., survivors, regardless of their stage in the journey—from newly diagnosed to metastatic—are invited to gain crucial knowledge and resources.
Executive Director Sarah McLean, a two-time breast cancer survivor, emphasizes the importance of equipping survivors with essential tools to make informed decisions about their health. “It can be hard when you’re trying to make these life-altering decisions when you don’t have all the information,” she noted. McLean’s personal experience fuels her commitment to helping fellow survivors feel empowered.
The Expo will feature a diverse range of healthcare professionals, including doctors and physical therapists, who will discuss topics such as reconstruction options and nutritional considerations. The event aims to address the myriad questions survivors and their families may have in the aftermath of treatment.
In addition to expert panels, lunch will be provided for attendees who register. Project 31’s mission is clear: to foster a community where survivors can connect and learn from one another and from specialists dedicated to their recovery.
