Enid Receives New Fish Habitats Through Wildlife Grant Program

ENID, Okla. – The city of Enid has enhanced its fishing opportunities with the addition of 57 new fish attractors in Government Springs Park. This initiative, supported by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC), comes through the Habitat Enhancement Partnership Initiative, a program aimed at improving fish habitats statewide.
The ODWC provided matching funds, effectively doubling Enid’s investment and allowing the city to acquire $5,000 worth of new submerged habitats. These attractors are designed to create a more vibrant ecosystem, inviting fish and boosting recreational fishing in the area. For interested local anglers, the locations of these fish habitats will soon be accessible via the wildlife department’s live fish attractor map.
The grant program remains open, with a deadline for applications set for September 1st. This initiative underscores the commitment of both the city and the state wildlife department to enhance local environmental resources and promote community engagement in outdoor activities.
