Easton Carmichael shone brightly, smashing two home runs and driving in four runs, while Cade Crossland dominated on the mound, scattering five hits over seven innings.
The Sooners (37-21) matched their season-high with 18 hits, showcasing an explosive offense. They capitalized on early errors from the Cornhuskers, converting two hits and three defensive missteps into a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning. Carmichael’s first home run, a shot to left field, was part of a six-run rally in the third inning, further extending their lead. His second home run, a three-run blast to right center, capped off a five-run sixth inning, bringing the score to 15-0.
Crossland (5-5) was particularly impressive, striking out nine hitters and holding Nebraska scoreless until an unearned run crossed home plate due to an infield single from Dylan Carey. In contrast, Nebraska’s starter Will Walsh (4-8) struggled, yielding seven runs, five of which were earned, in just two innings of work.
Looking ahead, the Sooners will face No. 5 national seed North Carolina on Sunday night, needing a win to force a rematch on Monday in their pursuit of a return to the Super Regionals for the first time since 2022.
