Discover Local Pick-Your-Own Farms in Cumberland County
As summer approaches, Cumberland County offers a delightful opportunity for residents to engage in pick-your-own farming experiences, fostering a connection to locally sourced produce while supporting small businesses. In and around Fayetteville, several farms invite families and individuals to enjoy the outdoors and harvest fruits and vegetables straight from the field.
Williams’ Produce in Autryville opens its strawberry fields six days a week (Monday to Saturday) and is a popular destination for berry enthusiasts. Located at 2840 Maxwell Road, the farm welcomes visitors from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and provides an authentic pick-your-own experience.
Gross Farms, situated about 50 minutes away in Sanford, will continue its strawberry season until June 7, allowing guests to fill their buckets for $18 until 5 p.m. daily (Monday to Saturday). About an hour from Fayetteville, White Hill Farms begins its blackberry season in early June, operating from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and shorter hours on weekends.
Millstone Creek Orchards in Ramseur offers pick-your-own blackberries for $25 a bucket and boasts an expansive 84 acres of family-run farmland. Barry’s Strawberry Farm has transitioned to an honor system for strawberry picking, allowing visitors to pick and pay at their convenience.
Meanwhile, Gillis Hill Road Produce will introduce its first pick-your-own experience for cucumbers, squash, and zucchini starting mid-June, while Carter Blueberry Farm, opening at the end of June, offers blueberries at $2 per pound.
For a memorable way to savor the season’s bounty, Fayetteville locals can revel in the joys of picking their own produce at these nearby farms this summer.
