Celebrating 25 Years of Film: The deadCenter Film Festival Returns to Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY – One of Oklahoma’s most cherished cultural landmarks, the deadCenter Film Festival, is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary from June 11 to June 15. This milestone will showcase a vibrant array of films, panels, and community events scattered across downtown Oklahoma City.
In a recent interview on The Porch, Executive Director Cacky Poarch expressed enthusiasm for the festival’s silver anniversary. “We are so proud. This is our 25th anniversary,” she said. The festival will feature screenings at various notable venues, including Harkins in Bricktown, the First Americans Museum, and the Oklahoma Center Museum of Art, with the hub located at the Oklahoma Contemporary.
Returning to its roots, deadCenter will also incorporate expanded programming at the Contemporary, alongside new events at Rodeo Cinema and Stockyards. A distinctive highlight this year includes the showcase of 38 local films and 25 world premieres. Notably, the festival remains Oscar-qualified for all three short film categories.
Attendees can secure tickets and passes through the festival’s official website, with full festival passes priced at $225 and individual screenings at $10. Many events, including panel discussions, will be offered free of charge throughout the week.
A special highlight for families and sports enthusiasts will be an outdoor screening of the Oklahoma City Thunder film on Saturday, June 14.
“Our mission is to inspire, promote, and celebrate creativity and community through film,” Poarch stated, emphasizing the thriving Oklahoma film scene. The deadCenter Film Festival promises to be a remarkable celebration of film and community spirit.
