Hilton’s NoMad Hotels to Open in Detroit, Revitalizing Historic Station

NoMad Hotels, a distinguished brand under Hilton, is set to launch a new hotel in Detroit, Michigan, as part of the city’s ongoing revitalization efforts. The NoMad property will be located within The Station at Michigan Central, a sprawling 30-acre technology and cultural hub focused on transforming the once-abandoned passenger rail station into a vibrant destination.

Josh Sirefman, CEO of Michigan Central, emphasized that NoMad’s commitment to integrating local culture made them an ideal partner for this project. “This partnership continues our mission to turn The Station into a global destination that serves both residents and visitors,” he stated.

Scheduled to open in 2027 following an agreement with Ford Motor Company, the NoMad Detroit hotel will feature approximately 180 guest rooms, including 30 luxurious suites, occupying the top five floors of The Station’s tower. Notably, this marks the first use of floors 14-18 since the building’s inception in 1913, designed by the architects behind New York’s Grand Central Station.

The hotel’s design will reflect collaborations with local artists and will include wellness facilities along with signature dining experiences that honor the historic site. Hilton Luxury and Mixed-use Development Vice President Kara Randall remarked on the significance of this project amidst other international openings for Hilton, which now boasts over 500 luxury properties globally.

This announcement follows the unveiling of The Station in June 2024, as efforts continue to cement it as a key player in attracting both large corporations and small businesses. The NoMad Detroit project represents a strategic addition to Hilton’s luxury portfolio, underscoring a growing presence in the US hospitality market.
