Oklahoma Football Recruiting Heats Up During Brent Venables Camp

Oklahoma football coach Brent Venables hosted a well-attended football camp this Thursday, attracting numerous high-profile recruits on campus. Notable among them was Class of 2026 offensive lineman Desmond Green, a 6-foot-4.5, 354-pound talent from South Carolina, who shared his visit on X (formerly Twitter). Rated as a 3-star prospect and the No. 18 player in his class, Green recently received an offer from Oklahoma on June 19, 2024, and has already visited Virginia Tech and Georgia, with upcoming trips scheduled to Florida and South Carolina.

Another visitor, edge rusher Matthew Nelson from Bryant, AR, made his first official visit to Oklahoma. Although currently unranked by 247Sports, Nelson plans to visit Tulane next. Meanwhile, cornerback Danny Odem from Orlando announced he would also visit this weekend. A highly-rated 4-star recruit, Odem is recognized as the No. 247 player in the 2026 class and had an impressive junior season at The First Academy, tallying 45 tackles and two interceptions.

Linebacker Liufau Loumoli also made a mark during the camp, receiving an offer from Oklahoma shortly after his visit. Ranked No. 240 in the 2027 class by 247Sports, Loumoli has already garnered interest from schools like Tennessee and Michigan.

Several other recruits received offers at the camp, including 2028 athlete Kamieon Compton-Nero from Owasso, who boasts offers from prominent programs like Tennessee and Arkansas. Tight end Tytan McNeal and offensive lineman Joey Fleming, both from the 2028 class, also received offers to join the Sooners. Currently, Oklahoma’s 2026 recruiting class ranks 45th nationally, with seven commitments to date.
