Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole Secures Disaster Recovery Funding for American Communities

Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole Secures $1.45 Billion for Disaster Relief

Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole announced the allocation of approximately $1.45 billion for the Economic Development Administration’s Fiscal Year 2025 Disaster Supplemental Grant Program, funded through the American Relief Act that he authored. This significant funding is designated for American communities that experienced major disaster declarations in 2023 or 2024 due to severe weather events like hurricanes, wildfires, flooding, and tornadoes.

Eligible applicants for these grants include state, local, and tribal governments, economic development districts, higher education institutions, non-profit organizations in collaboration with local governments, and public-private partnerships aimed at public infrastructure projects.

Cole expressed his deep understanding of the devastation caused by natural disasters, recalling last year’s tornadoes that ravaged the towns of Sulphur and Marietta in Oklahoma’s Fourth District. “This EDA grant funding enables communities to rebuild and plan for long-term recovery and future resilience,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of the funding in helping affected areas restore their infrastructure and improve readiness for future disasters.

The Congressman also acknowledged the contributions of President Trump and Secretary Lutnick, thanking them for their commitment to assisting Americans in need. Projects supported by this funding must either be located in or demonstrate a clear benefit to communities designated for disaster relief in the specified calendar years.

Interested parties can verify their eligibility and must submit applications online through the EDA’s portal. This funding initiative is expected to play a crucial role in the recovery and resilience of communities impacted by recent natural disasters.
