University of Oklahoma Welcomes Top Transfers to Wrestling Program
NORMAN, OK – The University of Oklahoma wrestling program, under the leadership of Coach Roger Kish, has bolstered its roster for the upcoming 2025-26 season by securing six NCAA Division I transfer students. This strategic addition includes Tyson Charmoli (Wyoming), Tyler Wells (Minnesota), Jack Gioffre (Virginia), Peyten Kellar (Ohio), Rafael Hipolito Jr. (Virginia Tech), and Brian Soldano (Rutgers). Collectively, these athletes boast nine NCAA Championship appearances, promising to enhance the Sooners’ competitiveness.
Kish expressed his enthusiasm about the new recruits, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome this group of experienced and talented wrestlers to Norman. Each of these young men brings a competitive edge, strong work ethic, and high character to our program.” He further emphasized their potential impact: “They will mesh well with our current roster and serve as strong mentors to our incoming freshman class.”
The newcomers come with impressive accolades. Wells, a four-time Minnesota state champion and Charmoli, a three-time finalist, are known for their skills in high school wrestling. Gioffre, a California state champion, secured a position among the top 60 wrestlers as ranked by FloWrestling. Kellar, honored for his fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, also clinched an Ohio high school title. Hipolito, a multi-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, boasts multiple state titles from both Alabama and Virginia. Meanwhile, Soldano has made headlines with three New Jersey state champion titles and has an impressive record of 99 wins by fall during his high school career.
With these transfers, Oklahoma aims to not only enhance its competitive standing but also foster a culture of excellence within the program.
