Oklahoma Hosts Thriving Brent Venables Football Camp
NORMAN, OK — Oklahoma’s Brent Venables Football Camp marked its third session this summer, drawing high school talent from across the nation to Norman for an immersive day of drills and training with the Sooners’ coaching staff.
Among the standouts was 2027 cornerback Jerry Outhouse Jr., a consensus 4-star recruit from Fort Worth’s North Crowley High School. Outhouse, who received an offer from Oklahoma on May 16, showcased his skills in drills, adding to his impressive stats with 44 tackles and five interceptions last season. He holds offers from various programs, including Nebraska and Texas A&M, and recently visited Texas, where he also earned an offer.
Also present was Albert Simien, another 4-star player and a local talent who is currently ranked No. 57 in his class. Though he hasn’t received an offer from Oklahoma, he arrived to compete. The 6’4", 280-pound lineman from Lake Charles, LA, has garnered attention from schools like LSU and Florida.
In an unexpected turn, 2029 offensive lineman Devin Smith, who has yet to play in high school, earned an offer after a remarkable performance at the camp. Smith’s skills caught the eye of the Sooners, and he joins a growing list of prospects with early offers, including Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.
Trenton Blaylock, a younger brother of current Oklahoma defensive back Tory Blaylock, also received an offer. The 3-star cornerback solidified his standing amongst the Sooners’ targets.
As the camp series concludes with its final session on Friday, the Sooners are set to welcome a promising lineup of key recruits, including 2026 quarterback commit Jaden O’Neal, further solidifying Oklahoma’s commitment to shaping future talent.
