Local Entrepreneur Opens Largest Cat Café in Oklahoma
Guthrie, OK – In a delightful blend of caffeine and feline charm, 19-year-old Nikki Teague has launched Meow & Mocha Cat Café, the largest cat café in Oklahoma, located in downtown Guthrie. Open since May at 315 W. Oklahoma Ave., the café has already facilitated ten successful cat adoptions.
Meow & Mocha offers a unique experience, combining a full-service coffee shop with a cozy cat lounge filled with adoptable felines from local rescues. “It’s like a mix between a coffee shop and a cat lounge,” Teague explained. Patrons can enjoy specialty drinks such as boba and cold brew coffee, with the option to reserve an hour in the cat lounge to interact with the adoptable cats.
To ensure safety and compliance with health regulations, clear separations exist between the café and lounge areas. While customers can bring their drinks into the lounge, all food preparation is carried out away from the animal spaces.
Teague, a passionate cat lover, mentioned that three of the cats in the lounge are her own, while others are waiting for new homes. “It’s hard to find the love of your life at a shelter,” she stated, emphasizing how the café allows potential adopters to see how the cats behave in a more relaxed environment.
The café operates with distinct hours, welcoming coffee lovers from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., while the cat lounge invites visitors for hourly reservations between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Note that the café is closed on Tuesdays.
With an inviting atmosphere and a mission to help local rescues, Meow & Mocha Cat Café is poised to become a beloved spot for both cat aficionados and coffee enthusiasts alike.
