Today is the day these struggling college baseball teams break their streak of 141 consecutive losses.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Yeshiva University Maccabees and Lehman College Lightning will face off in a nonconference doubleheader, both hoping to end their long-standing losing streaks. Yeshiva has lost 99 consecutive games, while Lehman is on a 42-game losing streak. The matchup has been described as “statistically, the worst baseball game of all time.” Yeshiva last won on Feb.27, 2022, while Lehman’s last win was on May 9, 2023.

Yeshiva’s coach, athletic director, and players have refused to comment on the losing streak, with no representatives expected to comment after the game. Lehman’s athletic director is confident in their coach’s ability to turn the program around despite the losses. The coach, Chris Delgado, acknowledges the difficulty of the losing streak but believes that progress is being made and a strong foundation is being established.

The game will be played at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex, a venue without lights, meaning that a tie is possible if the first game goes into extra innings. The last time these two Division III schools met on the baseball diamond was on May 13, 2022, with Lehman winning 12-11. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m. ET, with sunset at 7:28 p.m. Both teams are eager to finally break their losing streaks and secure a much-needed victory.
